Diversity, Equality & Inclusion

Our 2021 Diversity, Equality and Inclusion report reviews the progress we’ve made against our DEI commitments, which reflect the way we do business, connect our global team members and engage in our communities. As part of our commitment to transparency, we’re also releasing our U.S. Equal Employment Opportunity data for the first time. It’s all part of our vision to enrich life for all.

Our Six DEI Commitments

We established six DEI commitments in 2020. Owned and championed by members of our executive team, these commitments propel our business, driving how we engage in the communities we call home and deliver on our vision to enrich life for all. Learn more about our progress against these commitments in 2021.

Commitment 1: Increase representation of underrepresented groups
Status: Needs attention

While the racial and ethnic diversity of our U.S. workforce held steady compared to last year’s numbers, 5.4% more of our experienced new hires this year identify as members of underrepresented groups, as do 7.3% more of new college graduates joining Micron. We also increased representation of women in all job groups and increased overall female representation in Asia, with our sites in India, Malaysia and Taiwan now exceeding global semiconductor industry benchmarks.

Commitment 3: Strengthen our culture of inclusion
Status: On track

Our inclusion index score from our internal engagement survey is 85%, up seven points from FY20. Membership in our employee resource groups (ERGs) more than doubled, and we added 20 new chapters around the world and formed a new group in FY21. 99.9% of global team members completed one or more inclusion ally training sessions led by our ERGs

Commitment 4: Advocate for racial and LGBTQ+ equality
Status: Needs attention

Our Social Justice Council focuses on achieving equality in five areas: the economy; education and the workplace; technology; civic spaces; and the environment. Through the Micron Foundation, we provided $2.9M to support racial and LGBTQ+ equality causes. The Micron Political Action Committee (PAC) committed to donate $100K over the next three years to PACs supporting diverse Congressional candidates. We also provided local police and municipal employees in Lehi and Manassas with DEI training.

"The pursuit of an inclusive, diverse and equitable culture is a necessity for every high-achieving company. To us, it’s more than good business – it’s personal. Being inclusive is in Micron’s DNA and core to our vision and values. We want to hear all voices, all ideas and all perspectives. Everyone deserves to be heard, seen and valued no matter who they are or where they work."
